My pit bull terrier gets along with the cat ginnie pig , parrot and baby

Terriers in general are not great around small animals and cats - they often cannot be trusted no matter how much time you put into training them. Airedales, Westies, Cairns, Border Terriers and Schnauzers are probably your safest bets. Get a young pup (8-10 weeks old) and keep him on a leash from the day he first arrives. Don't allow him to EVER hassle the cats. Hopefully, the cats are NOT declawed and they can teach an obnoxious terrier a quick and painful lesson. Keep the pup crated whenever you can't supervise him. I don't fully trust my terriers loose in the house until they're at least two years old. Make sure the cat always has a safe place to escape to.
I'd also suggest reading some really good books on training. Try not to do it randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also! These are some of my favorites:

Also, watch the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. Cesar Millan is the best trainer I've ever seen on tv.

Yorkshire Terriers. They are toy dogs, but still terriers. When I had my cat, they got along very well. The yorkie did not chase him, bark at him, or nothing.

i hear that bull terriers do not get along with cats. also, i had jack russells and they didn't care too much for cats.
