The main meat tenderizers you see on the market are made from papain and bromelian. Papain is an extract of Papaya and bromelian is an extract of Pineapple. Some other fruits like mangos contain these enzymes. You could make a marinade using these fruit juice. Other things like yogurt and vinegar also will break down meat. You can pound them with a mallet. You can also buy a device that cuts tiny criss cross cuts in the meat to make it more tender. Ask for it at a place like Williams Sonoma. However I don't recall recently having a tough pork chop. One last thing those enzyme based tenderizers also work good on jellyfish stings if you sprinkle it on immediately after being stung. It won't disolve you.

One of the best marinades/tenderizers for pork (ribs, steak, or chops) is a can of beer. Add one small onion sliced, 4 or 5 garlic
cloves cut in half, a touch of pepper and salt and 1/2 cup of H2O.
Marinade for at least 30 minutes...bake or grill. WONDERFUL
FLAVOR! (cooking kills the alcohol...and the beer makes the pork
fork-tender. )

I always put Adobo seasoning on all meats, including pork chops. It gives it an excellent flavor without having to add multiple spices. You can find it in the grocery store near the Asian food.

A better way is a little bit of water, Golden Mushroom Soup, & a lid over your pan.

I tend to stay away from chemicals. How about beating it? A marinade is always nice, too.
