The song Amazing Grace has the words in it "I once was lost but now i'm found was blind but now I see. Sounds kind of like a smart aleck question I sure hope you didn't intend it to be.

Honey, I was soooooooo lost that I didn't even know that I was lost till all h--l came down on me. He never has been lost. He just keeps on waiting and waiting and waiting, and even though I like to think I've found Him, He probable wishes I'd get a new set of glasses and get with the program. I'm sure glad He's as patient as He is. I've "found" God so many times, and He keeps looking at me so patiently and forgivingly everytime I finally show up on His doorstep. Thank God He's God. I just couldn't do with less. Thanks for asking. God Bless you.

Well, when we found each other, neither of us were lost anymore. But to answer what I think you meant, it is the person that is still seeking G-d that is distanced away from Him, and has a harder time seeing/finding Him until they get closer by trying to connect with Him, not the other way around.

We do not find GOD but GOD find us. With is graces he calls and search for us. HE does so directly or indirectly (through people and experiences). For me, GOD found me through my parents who they baptize me into Catholic Christian faith. But because we have free will when He calls us or tells us to "come here" near him, we sometimes say "no" or "yes" probably doing it for the rest of our lives. But with hope and have faith, GOD never abandon us because HE loves us. So if you are waiting, GOD has already found you He is waiting for you to respond back to him. So are you willing to follow the Shepard or are you going to stay lost or go with a Shepard who disguise himself as a butcher (like materialism which some people use as their god).
Luke 15:4. What man of you that hath an hundred sheep, and if he shall lose one of them, doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after that which was lost, until he find it?

Generally speaking Christians speak of having been "lost" then being "found" when they convert to Christianity. The idea is based on a few of Jesus' parables (short stories with theological meanings underlying them). I'm not sure if other religions use this metaphor for describing their conversion or not.

I found God at the mall, sitting outside Chess King with a Cinnabon and about 20 shopping bags. She pretended that She was busy sending a text message on her phone, but I know She saw me.

I believe just like a child you are lost until you find GOD. He is everywhere! You just have to open your eyes.

I was lost. He was right there, but I didn't see Him. I was seeking Him, but not in the right places. He was trying to draw me to Him, but I was resisting.
