If your computer is so old that it has Windows 98 as the operating system, you may want to upgrade the whole computer.
You may find problems with the components of this older PC being compatible with XP.
A Windows XP Home upgrade will cost you about $100. A new computer from a name brand manufacturer can be had starting at $300.

The upgrade to Windows XP should of backed up your old operating system. Go into the "Control Panel" and then "Add or Remove Programs" and look for option to revert to your old operating system. You have the option to revert or remove this. Check the size, removing this could save a lot of disk space, but don't do this until you're sure you won't want to go back. Good luck.

XP doesn't use that much...something is wrong. If you don't need the contents of the drive (Windows 98). Do a complete installation booting to the XP CD and complete a full format. Why have XP on FAT 32 YUK!! Format to NTFS.

simple, wipe your hard drive clean, and reinstall windows 98SE.
windows xp takes up ALOT of space on the hard drive compared to win 98. And you cannot free up that space, it is need to run xp.
And since you were originally using win 98, I assume your computer is several years old. Stick with 98, xp requires a faster processor to work well and yours is probably not fast enough for xp.
So.... back to 98, either that or just buy a new computer. it would be cheaper than upgrading your processor and hard drive.

there was a part in the upgrade that askes if you wanted to save your old windows files if you entered no then there is no turning back. you think of adding another harddrive to the computer adding more storeing space. also there is what is called flashdrives that uses your usb port that can hold alot of files.

Wow, it shouldn't have taken up 10GB.
However, witrh 3GB left spare - this is unworkable. Really, unless all you're doing is creating letters, etc. If I was you I'd get a new hard disk fitted. They're very cheap these days!

Maybe you partitioned your drive and didn't know. See if you find another drive letter from your "My Computer" folder.
