I have seen a lot of people talking and/or asking questions about mostly what they do not know. What are you people trying to achieve? You don't even know us believers so why are you mocking us and making fun of our beliefs? Does that make you content or satisfied or what?

cURious- thanks, ur considerate to me, & ur wrong 2:P
bC- it's assuming to think we follow blindly. questining God is a part of our belief.
JTuck- not all believers are less knowledgeable than nonbelievers and vice versa. Just because u read the bible over & over doesn't mean you picked up its message. Facts can be twisted. Name calling is not an unwanted truth, its unwanted period. It's insulting & unrespectful & most nonbelievers do that. In case u haven't notice, christian is under religion or do u call atheism a religion now?
sPamand- i used to be like u 2 when things didn't go my way. Likewise ur belief is benign to me 2 but I don't call u names or mock u.
BaRb- did I mentioned ur name? Sorry my question ticked u. I'm interested in other beliefs if arrogance and uncaring is besides the topic.
sHaLom- should I have called them aliens instead?
weE- do I look like a hermit to you? Now you really hurt my feelings. speaking of urself, u didn't agree with my idea too.

Usually people like the ones in question are of a slightly low IQ but have enough back ground to be insulting. They have a slight grasp of The Bible but are not wise enough to get its messages. Often they are people who hurt becasue they thought GOD was Santa and didnt get their way! PRAY FOR THEM-- dont get upset!

I will not speak for the intention of others, but I personally have no problem of people of faith. However, I do not appreciate the way others preach their faith to us. Atheism and Agonism is a faith system whether you like it or not, and when ever we feel that our belief is being attacked, our natural tendency is to attack back. Some obviously in a less mature way then others. If someone was to tell you what believe in is wrong (which I sure many has) you probably would not sit idly by. It's not an attack at Christianity, but a defense of our beliefs (we are believers, just of a different idea).

I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years, have attended many different churches, read the bible more than once, and studied religious history.

Based on my experience on Yahoo!Answers and other Internet forums, believers have far less knowledge about religion and the bible than atheists (or agnostics).

One purpose of this forum is to ask questions and receive answers. Would you rather the answers come from similarly ignorant people based on "faith," or answers that are based on facts?

The most sure way of making someone angry is to tell him an unwanted truth. It is most certainly going to cause anger in many bible thumpers when they are told the truth about the bible. But, making them angry is not the intent, it is the result of telling them an unwanted truth.

If you are not looking for truthful answers, perhaps you should seek answers elsewhere. This is not a "Christian" forum, in case you didn't notice when you logged on.

Do you respect others with different beliefs etc than what you have? Do you care about others beliefs? Have you ever made fun of anyone with other belief systems than yours?

Why should I believe you are even interested in what others have to say or believe? You assume all I want to do and say is to hurt, but I have spent many years trying to find a path I know and love and I will not let ignorance and bigotry interfere with my comfort.

Many people simply want to use religion, or a lack of religion, as an excuse to force their ideas on others. I have seen many people whose hearts are full of hate, both those who claim to believe in God and those who claim to believe in nothing.

It makes people feel better about themselves to make others feel worse.

Until recently, I too was sometimes guilty of ridiculing the beliefs of others, and for that I apologize.

We don't all believe the same thing, and that's okay. We all need to learn to accept and love eachother, no matter how we differ.

The world's gotten too small, and humanity has gotten too big. We all have to share the same space, and there's no room left for hate and misunderstanding.

I do know you believers. I used to be you.

I mock you and make fun of your beliefs for the same reason others used to do it to me; your beliefs are unfounded ancient myths, and you try to push them onto others as if they were not a delusion.

If you ran across adults who seriously believed in Santa, and when you pointed out the obvious, they started quoting verses from "The Night Before Christmas" to prove Santa was real, and they pushed an alternative form of aerodynamics in public schools that claimed sleighs really could fly, etc., you'd mock them as well.

Your beliefs are not benign to the rest of us.

Well just like believers they are convinced they are right. Everybody feels this need to "spread the message". And anyone that doesn't agree with them, they make fun of them to disprove them. Its a tactic people use to give themselves power or validity. I've seen Christians, Muslims, pagans, atheists and so on and so on use it. So its merely human to do so. That's why its important not to generalize one group of people. Some people who do not believe in anything, and who are good people will respect your views no matter how different they are. I just forgive those people who purposely try to hurt me, because they don't believe in themselves enough to find what works for them.

Dear:Love Joh:15:18: If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
Joh:15:19: If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Joh:15:20: Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
Joh:15:21: But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

It's the Internet -- nobody's really getting hurt. Either ignore what you don't like or grow a thicker skin.

And if you don't like what you hear, argue! Defend your beliefs! Or do you expect everybody to pretend to agree with you?

Some of us do know. We question what does not make sense. You should not just follow an ideology blindly. How do you think Hitler got so many followers?
