The only advantage to an 80 pound bow over a 70 pound bow is you can get more kinetic energy out of an 80 pound bow .

On a compound bow, the "weight" is the peak draw weight required to fully draw the bow. Most compounds have a 50% or more "let off" so at full draw the archer only has to hold 40 lbs. on an 80 lb. bow.

more energy and maybe some added speed in the arrows flight...you are talking about lbs, right and not % of let off? Let off means the % of what weight your holding when you get to full draw...just pull them back to try it out in the store and get the one that is more comfortable to you...

It'd be more versatile with 80lb. limbs. You could turn it up to shooting at 80lb. draw weight if you ever wanted to hunt bigger game. You can't shoot at an 80lb. draw weight with a 70lb. bow, but you can shoot at a 70lb. draw weight with 80lb. capable limbs.
