Praising God helps the person praising moreso than God. It uplifts a person to be grateful and express gratitude.

God deserves to be praised and He is worthy to receive our praise:

Praising God is useful and favorable for us. By praising God, we are reminded of the greatness of God! His power and presence in our lives is reinforced in our understanding. "Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant" (Psalm 135:3).

Praise discharges strength in faith, which causes God to move on our behalf. "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger" (Psalm 8:2).

Matthew 6:7 says: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

God never asked for praise. This is one of the mistranslations/misunderstanding perpetuated by the fallible men who wrote the scriptures. I also believe that this stands true for the 10 commandments.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to like this answer, but I believe we are given examples of people praising God (and by implication commanded to praise Him ourselves) because of what it does for us, not for God.

It is part of our returning love for Him. It helps us to focus on His goodness, mercy and love for us. Praise is empowering and uplifting. For us.

I believe that everything God requires of us is ultimately for our own good.

It's really out of line. Think about when your mom cooks for you and all she wants is a little thank you, she doesn't need it but she does want it, is that out of line. She did all that work for you. Well God created everything in the universe all if ask for is a thank you is that really so bad.

The holy Quran 17:15
Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of his ownself. And whoever goes astray, then he goes astray to his own loss. No one laden with burdens can bear another’s burden. And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).
