I had a deer tick in me for about a hour and i noticed it was there, then pulled it out . does a tick have to be in you for a certain amount of time to transmit the disease? the tick wasnt in there long enough to even get any blood i think .. doctor told me to just wait for a rash or bullseye . i guess its just a waiting game?

Lyme Disease is a tricky thing. It could take years for symptoms of Lyme Disease to show up. And it mimics a lot of other neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis. My mom has M.S. and was tested for Lyme Disease because we had received some info on it. Anyway they say you will get a spot that looks like a bullseye where ever you where bit....which is not always the case. Oh and if you get tested at you local doctors office for Lyme they are not always right. You could get tested to soon after the bite for anything to show up. There is this one test that called the Western Blot that tests for Lyme it can be pretty pricey but its worth it. Because of the people I have met and heard of with Lyme said that the Western Blot was the only test that came back saying they were positive for Lyme. So there is some info for you. Just do some research.

No, they don't have to be in there for a certain amount of time, It just counts on if the tick carries the disease. I had it and my tick was in there for like 4 hours. And if you do get it, trust me, its not bad! But remember, DON'T eat before you take your medicine...you'll throw up! ewww

yeah, youll know if you have lyme disease from the rash... itll be obvious if you get it. the test is worthless.

lots of times i think they put you on doxycycline just in case, but i wouldnt worry about it too much. chances are the tick probably wasnt infected and if it was youll know

Yes, it's a waiting game. You can have a blood test later on, if it will make you feel better.

all you can do is wait - if they hit you with the meds to kill the lyme bacteria when it's not in your system, it could give you the disease anyway. so best thing to do is wait.
