Ok...I'm going to be showing my age here....but back in the good old days of the late 60s and 70s...we used to use frozen orange juice cans...empty them and roll your hair around them, fasten with bobby pins...you get large, wavy curls this way...or we also used socks...take a sock, kind of twist it and then roll your hair around it and tie...it looks a little silly but they're easy to sleep on, if necessary, and they work. there are all kinds, clean cans work for big soft curls, strips of cotton works for tight spiral curls, i don't know how well ur hair curls but i don't put anything in my hair, and it curls well. there are all kinds of things to use though just find one u like, it takes testing.

if you want a really tight curl, use pipe cleaners. Just wind up the hair and twist it to secure.

heat a heavy metal object which is long and cylindrical on the stove and then quickly wind it into your hair and let cool, in the old days they had specially made iron rods...
Alternatively you could just put your finger in an electrical outlet...

idk if it works but my friend would heat metal spoons and curl her hair arund them she sed it worked but idk
