Of course, it is important to keep in mind by "in his image", generally we're talking the mind - and not specific anthropomorphisms. God is spirit, not a ten fingered biped.

However, Homo Floresiensis appears to be quite convincingly human. Their ancestors made boats or rafts nearly a million years earlier to reach the island of Flores, and that is no small accomplishment: it would take mental and linguistic acumen.

Homo Floresiensis made sophisticated tools, cooked with fire, and hunted dwarf elephants. Rumours about a small people called "Ebu Gogo" on the island of Flores even suggest the small people even had a "murmuring language."

That - to my mind at least - makes them fairly human.

Of course not. Everybody knows that God is a virile 6'2" beach-tanned caucasian male with 7% body fat and a full head of neck-length sun-bleached blonde hair. Anybody who looks even remotely different clearly isn't made in God's image and needs to be purged off the face of the planet to make way for the virile 6'2" et al men who are. This will leave us with a perfect planet of beautiful men for about 60 years -- or less if they die of skin cancer -- and then the species ends.

Hrm, maybe we haven't thought through the whole meaning or definition of "in God's image" too lucidly?

God made a lot of things and not all in his image. I just saw a special on the Hobbit people and they were known for being mean and terrorizing other villages. They were also said to eat anything they could get their hands on. It all doesn't sound very God-like nor does their lack of survival.

Unlike homosapiens that is created separately from other hominids, Flores Man is descended from HomoErectus (just like Neanderthal Man was). God created HomoSapiens separately from the other Hominids (by my belief anyway).

See, the thing is that God does not have a physical image given that it solely a spiritual essence (energy). To the extent that we reflect the creator's desire we all are the image of God.

Of course not! Those were prototypes which didn't work out and were forgotten, like all bad bio cybernetic experiment are.
So they just bred and bred until god was unpleasantly reminded and was forced to blast their brains out. Sad story really.
Especially when this idiot tried to throw this ring into one of god's favorite volcanoes :D

PS: Seriously, of course someone has to create them. Either side actually.

God is a man-made concept, so Flores Man probably made him too.

My theory: We are Aliens! We were brought to Earth from at least four different planets as an experiment to see if different races can live together... so far there's only one race who can't.

You're behind the times a little, I see. It's not a new species, just a mutated specimen of Homo sapiens.

god created man on his image doesn't mean to look like him (the same color of eyes,hair,shape...etc.) but it means his image in freedom... as god created man with a free well to choose between right and wrong.. that's what is meant by on his image
