God does not need praise, nor does God need revenge or punishment. These are human traits ascibed to God by people who can't conceive of a being so much greater than them. Humans brought about this idea that God needs praise. God has no need. God simply is. God is the eternal energy force of life, not an old guy in a throne in some heaven in the sky, judging us.

It says in the Bible that God made us in His image and likeness. So we have His attributes. Which would you prefer? People praising and acknowledging your achievements and handiwork or people totally ignoring you...declaring that you don't exist or you are nothing? God has feelings He gets angry, He laughs, etc. He also enjoys praise. That's the work of the angels and the 24 elders who cry to Him day and night Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts. Worship is the place praise takes you. Praise is saying "Thank you" in a befitting way to God.

He doesn't need the praise but He is the Creator of the universe and He deserves our praise.

That is a fascinating question. Why DOES God need praise? you would think that someone omnipotent wouldn't need people to keep telling him that he is so. Thank you for giving me something to ponder!

I don't know about god, but I always wondered about St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes.
You know, you pray to him about a lost cause, and if it comes true (or maybe that doesn't matter), you put a thank you in the newspaper classifieds.
What's up with that? Is he some kind of celebrity monger? Can't get enough attention? What?

God commands his children to praise him for our own benefits. Not neccessarily for his pleasure, satisfaction or delight. One thought i have is that by praising our creator, we help ourselves feel the joy of belonging to him and keeps the devil distand and jealous.

As an earlier poster wrote, God doens't need it for His own sake, as He's perfect. It's for our benefit. If we came to realize God's greatness, and we made an effort to have a meaningful relationship with Him, we would be better people.

Prayer is reflexive - by praying, the one offering praises is made aware of the blessings bestowed in one's life.

For your good but it seems you don't desreve it.
the holy Quran 39:6
If ye reject (Allah), truly Allah has no need of you; but He liketh not ingratitude from His Servants: if ye are grateful, He is pleased with you. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. In the End, to your Lord is your Return, when He will tell you the truth of all that ye did (in this life). For He knoweth well all that is in (men's) hearts.
