I'm looking to buy from a breeder but not for a show dog, just for a companion. I found one for $500, is that a fair deal? I live in the Bay Area of CA

I am not a breeder and cannot claim to be knowledgeable on many aspects of breeding, but have been researching Boston terriers myself and am in process of trying to get one. They are a very intelligent and affectionate breed. Companions from a reputable breeder seem to range from about $650-800 while show dogs are around $950 and up. Please be careful - there are a lot of "puppy mills" out there that aren't responsible breeders. This can cause sad long-term health issues. Your puppy, should you choose to get one, should have CERF testing (eyes) and OFA Patella certification(knee). There is also a Baer test for hearing, which is offered less frequently. Be aware that dogs with too much white or blue eyes are more likely to have hearing problems. It is really nice if you can meet the dog's parents to see their temperament. One thing to help you is an email address: BBunch1024@aol.com, she is with the Boston Terrier Club of America and she can give you a list of reputable breeders in your state. Again, these are great dogs...good luck to you. Hope this helps

Honestly I wouldnt try to find the cheapest puppy. If they are cheap usually its not a good thing. Visit the home before you buy the puppy. If the person wants to show the dog at a park or somewhere other then their home there is something wrong so dont go for it. I would also get all the vet info and a health garentee. Basically it means that if there is something found wrong with that puppy you can take it back and get another. Get it in writing too. Basically its not for use but if the person offers one of those they are confident that nothing is wrong with the puppy and that is very good. Good Luck on your search! =]

If you have access to a computer look up some local boston terrier rescue groups and most of the times their adoption fees are alot less than what your going to pay from a local breeder

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU752

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I would say that the price is fair but you can get some around the $300 and they are from breeders all depends in the area that you live in, my suggestion is to keep looking in net or go to petfinders.com

Please don't run out and buy a dog. You can always find a wonderful animal at a shelter who is in desperate need of a loving home. If you are hellbent on getting a specific breed, look into breed rescues. there are rescue groupls out there for every breed of dog that you could possibly want. You'd be getting the breed that you want and you'd be saving a life at the same time.

anywhere form 400 to 700 is a fair price, but let me suggest Rescuebreeds.com they cater to pure dogs and most of the fees are nominal compared to breeders fees. Also your saving a dog already out there who needs a good home.

adopt one, and if you really want that breed, go to petfinder.com and type Boston Terrier. You will get a list of pure breeds that were put to adoption.

You might even find puppies. You get the breed you want for free, and the dog won't be put to sleep

$500 is fair IF the dog has it shots and has been vet checked, you should NEVER pay anything for an unchecked dog.. DO NOT BUY If its in a pet store.. they are puppy mill dogs (they will tell you they are not)
ask them if they will take $450
