my black lab is called Sandy!

Our son (then aged about 6!) named her. He gave us a choice of names: Scrappy (Scooby Doo's nephew) or Sandy. So we opted for Sandy! But at least everyone at the vets know her and do not need to look up her records each time we go in!

When I was younger we had a black lab called Dorcas. She was called that because she had eyes as bright as a new pin and my mother was using dorcas pins at the time. Then we had a schnauzer who we nearly called Windermere - she did not produce small puddles! We named her Holly because of the 'spikes' in her fur.

I would wait until you get your new dog and then study her personality for a couple of days. Then make your mind up!

I had a wonderful black lab, he died when he was 16, but went peacefully. His name was Bomber - a great name for a great dog, although these days may have different implications.
