People not being themselves; sleep alot, not sleeping; eating alot or not eating; crying or seeming sad. Sounds like you really love your mom. Look, just mention that you noticed she was sad and ask what you can do to help. Maybe it's something she doesn't feel she should discuss with you; or maybe she's had her heart broken and thinks you won't understand. Just give her alot of love and respect; just as you would want someone to treat you. Go for a walk with her or do some outdoor activity that she likes. If things don't get better soon, tell your counselor at school or someone (an adult) in the family that she respects to talk to her. She would do alot better hearing that information from an adult than from her child. God bless you both.

People sometimes wonder that depression means "darn I'm feeling down to day and feel depressed",...no no no, that is not depression. Depression can onset from trauma or any event that cannot be handled with normal behavior.
Once depression sets in, you become restless, Moody, can;t sleep, talkative at times and uncontrollable behavior...your an Atom Bomb waiting to explode and two minutes later your crying because your sad.
The brain receives messages by neurotransmitters along your nerve on the spinal cord. If the brain gets the wrong message, you can flip the blip and toss your cookies quickly...so they have medicine to get your messages back in sync and sometimes it is successful and sometimes it is not.
So you try a different medicine antidepressant until you find one that works for you.
Depression is the number one killer in the United States.

I've been having it for many years.

In my case
I feel worthless, helpless, often tired without distinct activity, often cry easily for long time, have mood disorder, can't trust people like see them as enemy, always worried, scared, having fear and axiety.

Others have desire to die also.
