I know most people need 12 months to plan a wedding. But can it be done in less than that? Example...you got engaged in October, could you get married in the end of that following July? Thats 9 or so months? Can this be done while in College?

You could plan a wedding in a week if you really wanted to. It just depends on your needs and/or wants. You could definitely do the wedding you want on your budget. My wedding is what I've always wanted and we're doing it for 8 grand.
Good Luck!

Of course you can plan a wedding in 9 months or less. I got engaged this Valentines' day (2006) and we are getting married in 3 1/2 weeks! Not a huge wedding, but all the traditional stuff. 55 guests, Historical Inn, reception, favors, bridal party etc. It all depends on what you want for a ceremony, if you are flexible with arrangements, and how much you want to spend.

Congratulations!!! Wishing you & your fiance the best during your engagement. I personally have started planning since February of this year for my wedding on May (5 months from now). I got the ceremony location/reception right away! I think a year or more is always good. It takes a while to get everything, there is a lot of details to be covered. Goodluck, it will be worth it, dont let anyone tell you otherwise.! My word of advice is that your mind will change with colors or ideas and it's okay...don't let anyone make you stick to something that you dont want, its your wedding and you have the right to change your mind. Therefore dont get any decorations right away- leave that until the end because you'll know down the line what colors you like. The first thing is to look for a Ceremony location & Reception, then all the other vendors (photographer, dj, videographer, florist..etc) Mine went from a beach theme to a garden theme due to my ceremony/reception location & so my colors changed from Tiffany blue to green & white..But im so happy!!! ;-) xoxo

It all depends on what you want for your wedding. If you want something very simple, it might only take a few months. Most venues and caterers require a year prior for booking though - you'll have to look around and see what's available in a short period of time. My husband and I got engaged in Nov of 2003 and set our wedding for Sept of 2005 - just so we'd have enough time to save money and plan in advance. It practically ELIMINATED any stress because we were so organized with it. I recommend taking your time and making sure everything is right. Good luck!

It totally depends on the kind of wedding you are wanting to have. Yes it can be done in nine months while in college. There are probably dozens of books you can obtain about wedding planning or if you have the money there are wedding co-ordinators that can handle it for you.

Yes 12 months is the standard but yes you can do it in less than a year! 9 months is not too short of a time span. Just make sure you get the church and important stuff booked ASAP and worry about the small stuff afterwards. It can be done in college but make sure you do your work first..lol. No sense in getting married if you can't get out of school to enjoy your marriage cause your 35 and still a freshman...lol. Good luck!

Well yes it does take a lot of time. My brothers wedding only took 3 months. They were engaged in April and married in June . It came out pretty nice. But alot of last minute run arounds.

"But can it be done in less than that?" No, it can't. The wedding planner police will hunt you down and make you take a year to do it.
Of course it can be done quickly, it just can be harder. 9 months is plenty of time, but you may run into some walls as many locations are booked out years in advance.

I planned mine in 1 month. It just depends on what you want and if you have the money on hand. You don't have to go all out on a wedding to make it special.

this can be done, but you will need the help of friends and family.
reserve the ceremony and reception locations ASAP. then get the photographer booked. b/c these things usually fill up the fastest.
now about your budget. for $5000 you probably won't be able to serve a full meal for even 50guests. You have to think that food/beverages (non-alcoholic) will run about $30-$50 per person for a nice (but not extravagant) meal. So that is up to you.
Good Luck!
