Free will did not come into play. The Bible does not teach that man has a free will, certain church denominations teach that, others do not. The Bible teaches that man has a depraved will in that his choices are based upon his own self awareness. That is why the Bible says that "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" because even the good things we do come out of selfish motives. If someone tells you we have a free will, ask them to show it to you in the Bible.
Even God does not have a free will. God cannot do everything, He cannot sin, He cannot lie, He cannot deny Himself. God cannot do anything contrary to His nature, and neither can man

Free Will was there when God created Angels. In the Garden of Eve, the Serpent/Devil tempted Eve and Adam to eat the apple. The Devil, supposed, was an Angel who chose to be against God, hoping to reign supreme over God. The Angel, then became the Devil, so therefore free will must have existed before man was born. Free will exists too, as later on in the New Testement, the Angel Gabriel came down to Mary, and said Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed art... And Mary said in response to the Angel's message, Do unto me as He wills. Therefore, first as he wills, proves 1 point, and second Mary said DO unto me as He wills. Who in this age would stay calm and say that. Most people would have freaked out and grabbed something and tried to kill Gabriel.

I don't think the Bible really mentions free will at all . . . In the story in Exodus it sounded like God would predetermine what someone did--like hardening Pharoh's heart, if you know what I mean.
No clue where free will comes into this, except with the assumption that god won't punish someone for an act unless they did it of their own free will. I don't think the Bible says this, it's only people natural sence of fairness coming though here. Cause God can't act unfairly, can he?

Adam and Eve were created from day one with free will. No one made them eat of the forbidden tree - they chose to. Of course Eve was conned by Satan.., and Adam? He just ate it because the wife asked him to - not forced him. Both had a rudimentary since that they shouldn't disobey God, ate the fruit anyway.
When they ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - they lost their childlike innocence - which explains much when Jesus said unless you become like a child (innocent natured) you shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Adam and Eve ate the fruit, and now knew the depths of good and evil. They could have eaten the tree of life and lived forever, which was their inheritance but they blew immortality for knowledge of good and evil.
Sin was birthed that day.

Gen 1:26. And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness
Image = Free Will for the purpose to love
Likeness = Rational for the purpose of truth
GOD is these two things and also Angels (No body but soul) and Human Being (Body and Soul).
Animals dont have this but they do have "impulses and instincts."

God created man good in righteousness and holiness and with the ability to use his gifts willingly out of love to God. When he rebelled against God he lost his righteousness and holiness and became dead in sin. He has a will but it is in bondage to sin so what he does he does willingly but he can only will to do sin. He has no ability to do righteousness unless he is born again by the Spirit of God.

When he created Man. He gave man free will, and not the angels, wich is part of the reason some of them got so angry.
