"virgins " does not specifically refer to women. It may refer to anything undefiled, unpolluted, free from any disease, clean. Having "rivers of wine' does not refer to alcohol, but to the bliss that is to be esperienced in paradise.Muslims are not to take any intoxicant anywhere, even if it includes paradise, so it is not alcoholic wine per se , allegorical statement for elements that have been process or fermented so that if would not spoil and get rotten. That's just what it means, a blissfull environment that won't spoil or deteriorate. GOD IS GREAT!!!! wish you luck and guidance from God.

the basic idea comes from the quran which promises companions (not virgins) for the believers who do good deeds.
the idea of 72 virgins has come from the so called hadith, and in islam, the test of faith or believe is according to the teachings of quran and not from the hadith ( hadith may be true of false) so whether we get 72 virgins or not , we should left it to God to reward us and concentrate on righteous deeds.

This is a promise in the Quran, although the number of "72" comes from haddiths (sayings of the walord).

Dont forget though, they are no just promised virgins for their murder, they are also promised "wine rivers".

The Quran says wine is from Shaytan, but then says that heaven has wine rivers!!

So, the promise is "Drunken orgy with many virgins" to be precise.

Let me first clear up that the (#) of virgins reward for Jihad is not mentioned in the Quran. It's mention in a hadith (saying of the Prophet) which is classified as Alien. Non-Muslims who are anti Islam are obsessed with this hadith. As I see this popular only amongst Non-Muslims.

This is what the Quran says about one of the rewards in heaven:

4:57 But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home: Therein shall they have companions pure and holy: We shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening.

and another verse describes them:

44:54 So; and We shall join them to Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

So, as you see women and men will be rewarded with perfected mates but no mention of (#) of virgins.

I suggest you learn about Islam from Muslim sources as a lot of what non-Muslims have on their sites are alien to us.

They say, and I am not kidding, that it was mistranslated, and they get 72 white raisins.

I am not joking, look it up. The guy translated it off the oldest Koran text known in existance.

Believers, why do you say what you do not execute? It is most offensive in the sight of Allah when you say what you do not practice!
