It is probably a robin's egg. If it was on the ground, it is most likely a non-fertile egg that did not hatch, and the mother bird pushed it out of the nest. This is normal. Not every egg in a nest hatches. After the other eggs hatch, if one does not, she pushes it out so it does not break and get rotten egg goo al over the nest and babies.

Just keep the egg for a souvenir, I'm sure you already have it inside anyway right? Even if you did construct a make shift incubator and the egg hatched the chick likely wouldn't survive. They take almost constant care on a 100% mashed insect diet. If you did get through the first few weeks and it lived, it wouldn't make a good cage bird and likely would never tame down to handle-able. Don't hatch it is my advice...

You should nest it yourself by sitting on the egg for about 9 hours a day.

Put it in a well-heated place. Perhaps it might hatch, but I doubt it.

Leave it alone. Hopefully the mother bird will find it.

Don't bother...it will die, if just from the fall from it's nest.
