I just saw/read the Da Vinci Code, and I was wondering about how it says that the concept of Jesus's divinity was created by Paul ( who never actually met Jesus) and added to the Bible at the Council of Nycea. Can some one MATURE explain all of this without taking offense if you're Christian. And also what does the so-called Gospel of Mary Magdalene say.

Jesus was never supposed to be worshipped. He was supposed to lead people to God.

You said "Old Testament" but you must mean the "NEW" Testament.

If you look - the Da Vinci Code is "fiction" and sold in the "fiction" departments of book stores.

Thats a mature, non aggravated answer. I mean, if the Da Vinci Code had any merit - so would the Wizard of Oz.

The Gospel of Mary Magdalene is a Gnostic gospel and not in keeping with the rest of the Bible - basically its antichristal in that it denies certain aspects of Jesus Christ.

Paul did not at any point make Jesus, into God. No part of the Bible reads that way although trinitarian teachers will twist the meanings or unintentionally misread the scriptures to that tune.

Unless God shows me different - Jesus was NOT his own father. Even so, his status as "Son of God" made him deserving of worship as there are instances in the NEW Testament to that end.

First of all, the Bible has two parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old T. was written before Jesus was even born so there's no account of Him in that part of the Bible other than in prophecy.

As for Paul, he did meet Jesus, that's how he was converted to Christianity. Prior to his conversion he persecuted and killed Christians. Paul did not teach anything the other apostles didn't already believe. He was the last of the apostles to be converted. After his conversion he met with the others and they approved what he was teaching. So, it is ridiculous to say he taught new things contrary to the original disciples.

In the New Testament, in the gospel of John 1:1 you find explicitly stated that Jesus is God. It says: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". The "Word" spoken of is Jesus. You can verify this by reading John 1:14, where it says: "the Word became flesh and lived among us". That's a reference to the incarnation of Jesus. Incarnation means becoming flesh or a man. Jesus was God and became a man.

The other subjects are too lengthy to deal with here. If you're really interested email me and I'll give you more info. I hope this helps you.

The Old Testament never said to worship Jesus, neither does the New Testament. He was supposed to lead us on the path to God. However, as I suppose someone answer next or before me, that Jesus was born a long time later, I respond to you, that it is true, BUT at the very beginning of the Gospel of Mathew (I think) It says very well that Jesus the Holy Spirit and God, were all there in the creation. God said (the word) "Let there be light!" And there was light (the action).I have absolutely no idea where a Gospel of Mary Magdalene came from.

There's no mention of Jesus in the Old Testament because it was written long, long before he was born - probably during the course of the previous two thousand years or so.

By the way, The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction. It's a story told for purposes of entertainment, not enlightenment or education. Certainly it has some historical content, some of which is likely to be at least passably accurate, but there are a great many other sources you should consult if you're truly interested in historical scholarship or research. Fiction doesn't necessarily mean "untruth," but it does grant the author license to use facts in the context of the book's goal of entertaining the audience. In other words, The Da Vinci Code, as entertaining a book as it is, has little if anything to do with reality.

Jesus does not speak in the old testament.

I'm not taking offense, but please keep in mind that the DaVinci Code is a work of fiction. You shouldn't take it to heart any more than you take Star Wars or Finding Nemo as "truth."

It's a nice story. Quite frankly, as a Christian, I don't see what all the hullaballoo is about. No one is actually claiming that the Da Vinci Code is a true story. Not even its author.

Paul actually did hear Jesus speak, if you believe the bible. The Book of Acts, which was written by Luke (author of the Gospel that bears his name) states that Paul, on the road to Damascus, was struck blind and heard a voice from heaven identifying himself as Jesus Christ.

I'm not aware of any so-called Gosepl of Mary Magdalene. I believe that this hidden gospel is another piece of fiction woven into a great story with limited factual basis by Dan Brown.

Good story, but don't go believing it.

Jesus doesn't "speak" in the Old Testament, and don't be fooled by the fiction story of the Da Vinci Code. Paul did meet Jesus, if you read the New Testament. Jesus clearly states in the New Testament that he and God are one, therefore he should be worshipped. If you have any mature Christian friends, I encourage you to speak with them.

Well,Jesus doesn't say he is God in the Old Testament because he wasnt born on earth in the Old Testament yet=). But in the NEW TESTAMENT, Jesus in John Chapter 4 tells the Samaritan woman that he IS the messiah, or God. He only does this a few times in the Bible. When asked by Pilot if he was the Christ, he said yes. Jesus also said multiple times in the bible that "I and the Father are one". meaning that the way u worship God is how u should worship Jesus because they are on the same level. Jesus also never rejected worship(i.e. his apostles, mary magdelene, and many others). Lastly, Jesus died on the Cross for BLASPHEMY. when asked if he was the christ, if he would have said no, he would have been set free and escaped gruesome death. but he said i am. answer me this: Would YOU die by crucifixtion for a lie that you made up???the answer to this is prolly no for most ppl(for all ppl most likely). Just go back to God's Word while reading the Davinci Code; see what it has to say. talk to a local pastor if ur still not sure or dont understand.

Couple of things that I'll try and say.

First is that Jesus was not in the Old Testament. His coming was foretold over 200x's in the OT.

Secondly "The DaVinci Code" is a work of Fiction and is not real. It is based on some theories, but is ultimately a work of fiction.

3. I have not read the book nor seen the movies.

4. Read over how the Bible was put together. How certain things weren't included how others were at the link below

Jesus, the physical man was born in the time we call the New Testiment. Although Jesus never instructed his followers to worship him they eventually realized who he was. Mark 8:29; John14:6-11; Even in the book of Josephus, a history of the Jewish people, it is mentioned that Jesus was the Christ.

If you are really serious about investigating all of this you can read the book "Breaking the DaVinci Code". It will answer all your questions in a mature atmosphere. At least in a more detailed and complete way than you can find here. The book is currently available at amazon.com

Good luck mate,

For one thing Jesus was not IN the old testement. He was prophesied about in the old testement. And the part about adding it later is incorrect. Go read "the truth behind the Da Vinci Code".

The "gospel of mary" is a Gnostic "gospel". Not actually IN the bible and I don'tr remember what it says...
