Not to mention the lousy grammar. . .

If anyone needs to spend 20 minutes on a single sentence, they have bigger problems than poor spelling.

Obviously, I wasn't referring to "condensed" phrases like BTW, SOL, STFU, etc.

Mea culpa for my own poor grammar.

They're lazy. That's all there is to it. I'm surprised anyone in their right mind can read that gibberish.

The only reasons I take time to write properly are 1) I had several English teachers who were real sticklers for spelling & grammar, so much so that sometimes they counted for half my grade, and 2) force of habit due to #1.

Here we go again......people are at work and trying to hurry. Two, there are a bunch of kids on here too. Three, people make typos and can't type well. Four, this is an international site using a type of interpretation device so all can read and none of it is going to be perfect. Ever go to babblefish translation site? If you type in a sentence in English - to Spanish and then type exact same way Spanish back to English, it will not come out the same translation. Five, some people really just can't spell or type.

I wouldn't be getting on any high horse right now.
"If anyone needs to spend 20 minutes on a single sentence, they have bigger problems than poor spelling."
You used a singular indefinite pronoun, and then you used a plural nominative case pronoun to refer back to it. That's pretty lousy grammar. You should have used "he or she has," not "they have."
There are so many poor spellers and grammar users on Yahoo! Answers because, like you, they don't know otherwise.

Because education today is not about learning; its purpose is to humiliate people so they'll accept being bossed around. School is intentionally boring and unrewarding so that, after 12 years of it, the graduate will accept low wages after getting no reward at all for schoolwork. It's all about molding a wage slave. By the way, you yourself used "they" with a singular antecedent. When you criticize school for dumbing down, that doesn't get you off the hook of being dumbed down yourself. I am self-educated, so I wasn't dumbed down. Besides, if you had any logic, you'd realize on your own that you must have been dumbed down too; therefore, you too should educate yourself.

Most people now days are too lazy to attempt to type anything other than sad attempts at words. We, as RPers, call them noobs. People who haven't been on the computer long enough to type correctly, or people, as stated, too lazy to do otherwise. But, regardless of their excuse, it's still annoying.

I don't know
it would be nice if they could at least spell check spelling, or if they were smart enough to know what it is.
