I've been to NYC approximately 5 times already, but this time I'd like to take about three friends, split the gas money, and park the car someplace that won't cost a fortune, won't be a hassle, will be safe, and also be easy to get to downtown Manhattan. I've been told to park in New Jersey and take the ferry over, but also to park in Brooklyn and take the metro over...which would you suggest (or maybe a different way) and could you give a detailed description of where (exactly) to park and the address of the nearest metro station (if your instructions includes it). Of course, ANY information about this is helpful, thanks!

It depends on where you are coming from. If you have to go thru NJ you might as well park there, like Newark of Hoboken and take the Path over $1.50 each way per person. But if you are coming from New England, Brooklyn may be a better choice and it would cost $2 each way to Manhattan.

Much easier to do this from Brooklyn. You only have to use one mass transit system and you also get to see a really cool part of the city.
