Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword,
it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, j
oints and marrow; it judges the thoughts
and attitudes of the heart.

Psalm 53:1
The fool says in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.

Romans 14:8
If we live, we live to the Lord;
and if we die, we die to the Lord.
So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

I guess if you're looking for comfort in a hard time, you can start with the Psalms, they are really soothing. If you're looking for wisdom, Proverbs is a good place. If you're looking for something really specific, try a concordance. Then you can look for specific words in the old and new testaments.
