I worked in the travel industry for 30 years. PLEASE, PLEASE, think of another career! It is a very stressful industry with little or no gratification. The industry has changed quite a bit over the years. And true, it is hard to get into and really have a satisfying career.

It depends on which part. Its hard to get in the airline industry anymore. Most times it's all in who you know. A majority of airline employee's know someone who referred them to get the job. Working for an airline can be stressful, but it can be fun too.
