If satanists don't believe in the "devil", then where did satan come from? I'm not tryna be funny. I've been watching things on T.V. about satanists and just can't understand how they can believe in the"fallen angel" and not believe that there is a God in heaven that expelled him(lucifer)? Maybe. I'm mixing up satanists with atheisits. Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't wanna 'dis anybody's belief system. Lemme know.

Mainstream Satanists don't believe in the devil. Like all religions, there are denominations that may have different beliefs, but, the most popular belief of Satanism, LaVey Satanism, doesn't believe in God or gods or Satan. Satanism is an atheistic religion. Not all atheists are Satanists but, all LaVey Satanists are atheists.

Written by a Satanist:

"Satan is not a real, living entity, conscious or a physical thing that can be interacted with. It is a symbol, something ethereal, something that basically doesn't exist except as an emotional attachment and personal dream. Just like Buddhists do not worship Buddha, Satanists hold up Satan as an ultimate principal rather than an object of literal worship. Satan inspires and provokes people, like all (honest) religions the ultimate point is self-help. God believers have a different opinion on what Satan is, but their opinion is a result of their religion. Satanism's Satan is much more eclectic and multicultural than to be defined by Christianity or Islam."

Most Satanists of the Church of Satan do not believe in Satan at all. They don't believe in a devil. Satanism was, more or less, built to be in direct opposition to Christianity. Mainly in answer to those Christians who saw anything they didn't like as Satanism.

Satanists don't believe in god or the devil. They believe satan is the word used to describe all the fun stuff christians don't want them to do. Satan = sin. At least in Anton Lavey's version.

Very few Satanists actually believe Satan is a real being. For the few that do, most believe he is a demi-god; the god of man, but not the god of all. An even smaller minority believe he is a demon, yet worship him anyway because they are truly demented.

Most satanists don't believe in the "devil" they believe in Lucifer's philosophy. They believe in standing up for your beliefs, and basically being your own god.

Satanism is actually a philosphy, not the belief in a devil or "Satan". And, anyone who doesn't believe in heaven normally doesn't believe in hell either. They're called Atheists.
