what happens if you commit suicide? Is there reference in the bible about reincarnation-if it exists? Or is there reference in the bible about spirits or ghosts staying on earth after death and why do they stay here? I know there are a lot of knowledgeable bible/religious people out here and I have never read the bible all the way through. Thanks and sorry for so many questions in one.

if you commit suicide God will judge you as he judges us all...with love, with compassion and by looking at the state of our heart. in my experience people who commit suicide are not in a totally rational frame of mind. there is no reference that i know of in scripture to reincarnation since after death our souls will be in either heaven or hell - spiritual realms and not actual places, one meaning eternally with God and one meaning eternally not. there are references to ghosts in the Bible... for example when Jesus walked on water Matthew Chapter 14 verses 22 -34 his disciples at first thought he was a ghost...their reaction might suggest that acceptance of such things was relatively widespread at that time. as to ghosts "staying" on earth for a period of time, i'm not sure there is enough evidence or proof one way or the other as to why they might...
if you are searching for spiritual answers i would suggest you contact your local Church of Christ - you'll find a registry of local congregations online - and talk with the people there. they are helpful and encouraging and will study with you if you want to study - at your own pace and in your own way.
Jesus himself said "ask and it will be given to you:seek and you will find" Matthew chapter 7 verses 7&8 good luck and God Bless.

There are many, many references to the Bible to many things. Vestiges of other, pre Judaic religions survived to be written into the Old Testament (the lions on Solomon's temple for example, were holy to several goddesses).

The New Testament is full of mythology pulled from other faiths. The very nativity myths themselves largely come out of Mithraism and some other period religions.

Suicide specifically, the fundamentalist take is that it is murder and you are dead and can't ask forgiveness -- at least that was the take in the fundie group I was in for a while when I was young.

I think its a crock, but its so evident that the Bible isn't accurate that I suppose I would think it was one. There is a lot to live for however, and I hope you aren't thinking about killing yourself.

Suicide...you come back here (reincarnte back to earth), unless you suffer from mental illness that drives you to doing so. Yes, reincarnation exists. Ever feel drawn to a certain culture for no explained reason? No doubt you had a past life there. Ever feel familiar with a place that you've never been to? Ever feel like you've known someone your whole life but you just met them minutes ago? You probably knew them on the otherside. Ghosts are humans who don't realize they are dead or just won't let go. Spirits are humans who've successfully crossed over.

Sorry, no bible references.

The bible is a book of mythology and relies solely on interpretation.

Your questions cannot be answered because each person will give you his interpretation of what he thinks the bible "really means."

There are numerous examples of "angels" walking the earth, of an "afterlife" in various forms, and references to reincarnation. Since Jesus committed suicide and is considered "without sin," it is obvious suicide carries no penalty.

I realize this isn't very helpful, but it is an accurate representation of the bible relative to the questions you asked.

Reincarnation:

Jeremiah 1:5: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

From a Mormon point of view, we believe that suicide is a sin against life, but only God can judge what the person who committed suicide was thinking. We don't believe in reincarnation - but we do believe in a pre-mortal life where our spirits were first created and progressed to be able to choose to come here to earth and continue learning by faith. I'm going to refer you to the works of Cleon Skousen, a pre-eminent LDS scholar who died just this year in January. There are references to spirits and ghosts in the Bible, for example the spirit of Samuel supposedly appears to Saul after he consults with a witch (1Samuel 28:16-19). However, this is what Skousen says, "The reader should keep in mind that this entire incident was typical of spiritual seances. One of the standard devices of "familiar" spirits is to pretend that they are some famous person (such as Samuel) and then deliver a message which, if it turns out to be correct, will give that spirit and its medium influence among men. Note that only the medium claimed to see anything. Saul heard only the medium's voice and the description of a spirit whom he assumed to be Samuel. While in the spirit world, Samuel would be under as strong a commandment to avoid the witch of En-dor as he was while alive. No member of the Priesthood beyond the veil would respond to the call of such a woman. Certainly God who had not allowed his prophets to give a revelation to Saul (after he continued in a pattern of disobedience, I would add here) would not turn around to give credence to the witch of En-dor by authorizing Samuel to speak through her. What Saul heard was a deceptive communication from an impostor spirit pretending to be Saul. Under the prevailing circumstances the spirit would not have required any particular genius to see that Saul was going to lose the coming battle. Hence the doomsday prophecy was soon fulfilled." "The Fourth Thousand Years," by W. Cleon Skousen, p. 70, footnote. Please feel free to read Cleon Skousen's works - along with the Bible and any other book of scripture you feel open to reading. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I believe in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. We use the King James version of the Bible. Most of us use a 1979 version. Good luck reading.

No problem.

It is the goal of Satan for a person to commit suicide. If your sins are forgiven by Christ, even suicide is covered. But what got you there in the first place? Who's voice are you listening to?

Ghosts are considered "familiar spirits" and are forbidden to seek after or listen to. They are lying spirits from the pit.

There is no reincarnation.
Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.

Well, as simple as I can put it, there is a spirit behing everything on this Earth, including suicide. But what you must know and understand also is that God is a spirit (John 4:24). The spirits are here to lead the spirit of man to one of two places, eternal life or eternal death. The spirit of God or the Holy Spirit leads to eternal life and all others lead death. Remember, there is a spirit to EVERYTHING. Choose eternal life.

It's better to kill yourself (or have someone assist your suicide) than to be killed by a woman.

And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech's head, and all to brake his skull. Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A women slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died. -- Judges 9:52-53

Suicide is a noble thing if it results in the death of your enemies (including civilians).

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life. -- Judges 16:29-30

At the end of the world many will try to commit suicide to escape God's torments, but God won't let them.

And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. -- Revelation 9:6

suicide is the taking of a human life, it is the killing of one of God's children. Attempted suicides are treated by law as illegal, you will be arrested, and this will be reflected on a criminal record. There is a reason for this.
Who are we to take the life of Gods Child? Who are we to say that person should die, or I should die. It is not our choice. Our bodies belong to God, if it was not for Him we would not be here, He knows the plan and He has the reason. Suicide is a permanent answer, to a temporary situation, and just like murder, it is a sin,
God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:14)
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. (Hebrews 10:26-27)
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. (John 15:22)
If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains. (John 9:41)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23-24)

so heres the deal,
its a sin, like all sin, it is not GODS plan for you, and only fullfills the enemies desires. if you are saved, and have been made righteous, you WILL be judged for your sin. this topic has been debated again and again by Christian scholars, but my belief is yes you'll be judged, but i dont think you'll go to hell, God is forgiving.
According to scripture we will not be reincarnated, our souls belong to God, He will decide our spiritual destiny, heaven or hell.
Ghosts, if saved prior to death they would not be wondering around in the natural. Their spirits would be with God, since they are not I would not trust them.

"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters". (Mathew12:30)

if a born again Christian commits suicide they will go to heaven.

there is no such thing as reincarnaiton according to the bible. Hbr 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
everyone who has died is awaiting judgement.
