call a pest control company. they usually have solutions to "control" birds and deter them from coming around.

They make harm free bird deteriants that you can put up! They're little plastic spike strips you lay wherever you don't want them to hang out.
They then see it as not a cozy place to land and go elsewhere to poop on someone elses head when they walk out the door! ha ha
Around here I see them on the roofs and eaves at Safeway and the Strip Malls. They put them up to prevent the pigeons usually from nesting there. There's even a strip on the lighted sign at PetsSmart...so call your local Pet Store and ask if they carry the little strips. It's not like you have to keep it up forever...just put it up when you see birds sitting there. Or maybe make something simular. A thin strip of wood with nails hammered into it. Maybe 10 of them depending on how big the area is. More for a bigger area. Then put the little piece of wood on your door for a couple of days till they get the hint!

Good luck!

Put up a fake owl, that will keep them away until they get used to it, so move it around every now and then.
You can even try a fake snake, but that will probably scare your friends away.

Fireworks are very effective at scaring them off but I think you need to obtain a permit first.

Put something sticky on the edge where they sit. They won't like how it feels and they'll stop sitting there
