If their sermons are putting people to sleep then obviously they aren't really being really devoted in their love of God. A true devotee that has true love of God would radiate that kind of energy and truly uplift their parrish.
It is a sign that they need to really reach deep some more and find God there and bring it to the surface. I feel God when I go to Amma's satsangs. I came from a Christian background and have gone to tons of church services growing up. They always put me to sleep and gave me boredom.
But what I experienced really woke me up and really uplifted me up feeling bliss within myself. That is true devotion to God!

Because the message being given is often for those who are further along in their walk then you. You may want to look for a church whose style is better suited to your current walk with Christ. Just like a baby, you don't feed them a 16oz steak until they have matured to the point where they can handle it.

I understand what Fresh Princess said and it is true. However, remember that God finding the disciples sleeping said: can you at least give one hour in prayer? I do things to please God not the people. I go to church for Him not for the priest/rabbi/pastor. Keep that in mind and give Him what belongs to Him.

if you love learning more about God and Jesus (like I do) then you are able to stay awake because it's what you want. Try taking notes or something

luckily my pastor is awesome so its not hard. but i have been to some catholic masses where the priest is some old guy who you cant even hear. i dont know how they do it!

I used to cut out the crossword puzzle and keep it inside my bible.
