Use whichever media you feel most confident to express:
1. Your greatest fear (can you expose yourself and your frailties?)
2. An event that you witnessed that was unhappy or tragic (can you convey emotions of others without projecting your own point of view into the piece, be objective like a photojournalist?)
3. Yourself as an elderly person (what will you be doing? what will you look like?)
There are many more things that all revolve around the same thing...self-awareness, self-discovery, whatever you choose to call it, but it will help you grow as an artist. The art you create is ultimately about your take on the world around you. Even when it seems like an objective representation it will always be subjective.
Lastly, as an artist hoping to become successful, you should never spend much time asking others what they think you should be doing or what they think of anything you've done. Your art is about what you think. Period.

If you paint, then a good idea would be to take a bunch of old pictures, and random things, and paint them with different styles, and textures. piece them together on a large canvas and pick a color theme. it's fun and exciting to try. either that or pick someplace completely ordinary, someplace you haven't been for a while, and some place that people overlook. perhaps a street corner would be a good subject. but in general the best thing to do is pick something you like. otherwise it will never get done. good luck!

4 key words, "Paint what you know"....you may not be painting, but focus your art on what you know, what is intriguing to you...something you see from a unique perspective. Don't get tangled up in what other people will like, including your art teacher; this is your project...make it fulfilling for you, let it make your summer one you won't forget. Veiwing a piece of art is a personal experience that is unique based on each person's experiences and associations, so don't worry about saying something necessarily...focus more on impressing a feeling or mood. This can be applied to all medias...experiment. Just keep going, and make each one fun. : )

That depends on how YOU are feeling about it, it has to come from you, other people have always different ideas.
In Germany there appeared many books about art and..football, including visual arts, music, sculpture etc. , because of the WM. I would not go into that, but find a subject that is of interest to many... Art and religion ?, Art and Food? Impressionism today ??
Good luck finding something that makes you feel good...!

Think about a theme that has a lot of meaning in your life -- and then use symbolism to recreate those meaningful events, people etc.
For your family -- items that represent them, hearts, stars -- or even tiny portraits -- all growning as fruit on a giant intertwined tree. And other similiar pieces.
You could go very simple, call the series "Symbolic"

Look into mandala art, and do a series of mandalas, maybe in different mediums, then do a little write up on their history...it is an amazing art form. Look at my teachers work at www.mandalas.com. Lots of luck and have a great time with whatever you choose.
