The nil rate bands announced in the Finance Bill 2006 are:

Year Nil Rate Band
2006/7 £285,000
2007/8 £300,000
2008/9 £312,000
2009/10 £325,000

Just type in inheritance tax, and you will go to the government pages, it's a minefield, I have just recieved a inheritance, and my argument is, it was shared between me and 2 sisters, sepratley we do not hit the £275.000 but together we do, and it's the total they go on.....

You will find that it is probably still £275,000. The increase in the Budget is spread over the next three years to £375,000. (Part may have come in this year)...............
