Anti lock brakes pulse on and off at a high rate of speed when you brake hard on ice so you have the ability to steer as well as stop on ice (or other slick surfaces). Power brakes uses hydraulics to make the brake pedal a lot easier to push down to apply the same force to the wheels. All new vehicles (probably since at least 1980) have power brakes, but less of them have anti-lock

Anti-lock brakes are a type of power brakes... All cars have been sold with power brakes since the mid 1960's, but anti lock did not become popular until the early 1980's. Antilock brakes keep the brakes from "locking up" during heavy brake pedal application, and allow you to maintain steering control.
Remember that over braking is one of the causes of skidding. Antilock brakes lessen the possibility of losing control.

Anti lock brakes are power brakes also, in the older cars there used to be manual brakes that were harder to push by pedal, then they came out with a power assist that went in between the peddle and brake master cylinder that reduced the effort to apply brake pressure for the driver, then came antilock brakes that are normally integrated into the power brake system! Hope I cleared it up for you!

anti lock brake prevent the wheels from locking up.ever see those tire skid mark on the road, those are cause by vehicle without anti lock brake system.the biggest advantage of having antilock brake is to let you brake straight, steering where u want to go,and vehicle is still in control.other vehicles without anitlock brake will cause cars go out of control when the wheel is lock, wear tire tread uneven and takes too long to make a complete stop. power brake and antilock brake have the same pressure on your foot when u apply the brake pedal.
