People lie to portray a desired image of themselves. They might want you to think of them a certain way . . .

Sometimes people lie to save face or protect those that they care about and think the truth would hurt them. But lying for no reason means they have a serious problem and will lie over anything, even small things. Thats not good. Honesty is the best policy in my book but that can be just as bad. Take my word for it.........(~:~)

Because sometimes its just easier than the truth, particulaly if it will cause another person pain. However, I believe and I've had numerous experiences with it (not neccessarily personal) that when you tell a lie the truth almost always comes out in the end. So I often say practice telling the truth. I'm not perfect but I try everyday of my life to tell the truth, that way I'm being honest with myself also.

I usually lie from convenience, kindness, or a wish to conceal the truth. Convenience when someone asks a complicated question that, if I answer truthfully, will undoubtably lead to more complicated questions that I would rather avoid if possible.
Kindness when someone asks 'Am I ugly?' or 'Do you think I've lost weight recently?'. In circumstances like these it would just be a harmless kindness to reply in a slightly untruthful manner.
I think the reasons why I would lie to conceal the truth are obvious.

Because sometimes it is easier to lie than tell the truth. People are insecure with decision they have made or it will hurt the person, hell there are a number of reasons. But the bottom line is that they shouldnt lie

People who lie are just not honest and most can't be trusted. They lie because they don't want you to know something about them. They usually are doing something that you wouldn't like them to do, so they lie to keep you happy. They would rather lie than confront an issue. They lie to get out of trouble.

People sometimes lie because they are insecure, and they don't think you will like them for who they really are. Then they have to keep up the lies so you don't catch on. I don't lie for these reasons. Sometimes I might tell a white lie just because I don't want to answer someone's stupid questions, simply because it might be something private and I don't care to go into detail explaining why I don't want to tell them something. I think I'm saying I lie to prevent a boring conversation with a stupid person. but like I said before, some people lie because they are insecure, they don't like themselves, ect...

Sometimes you need to lie maybe so because the Truth would have hurt somebodys feelings but that's the only reason to lie.

no its not necessary to lie my mom lies to me all the time about where she lives and who shes with some people think if they tell the truth they may run that person away or they may have been raised in a family that lies and its hard for them to tell the truth

Once they lie they have to lie to get out of the first lie they told so they must get off on it
