Different people for different reasons. My brother has all but said the only way he would believe in a personal God is if he recieved a message from God directly that he could verify. A friend of mine doesn't believe in God because he sees evil in the world, and just is not able to wrap his mind around the thought of a God who allows evil. Another friend doesn't like having to answer to God at the end of time, so he doesn't believe. Some people believe science has replaced the need for God.

Why do people believe in God? Everybody is entitled to their own oppinions and beliefs, but to answer your question there are several things.
A) they were raised that way. Religious beliefs are often shaped during early childhood, and who is around you the most? Your parents.
B) Tragedy in their lives. Often times an abrupt death of somebody close to you or nearly dying can make people lose their faith in God. For example, the first of these may make people feel like God has betrayed them or has simply stopped looking out for them. The latter may make them feel like God isn't so loving after all, and so they reject him at first, and eventually settle down into atheism.
C) Not being able to believe something illogical. All Gods in all religions are illogical. This doesn't mean they don't exist, they simply go against logic, they go against science and what we "know" of the universe. Some people are able to ignore the lack of logic and believe, this is called "faith." Others, however, cannot do this.
I hope this answers your question.

First of all, human beings tend to beleieve in a "superior entity" which can be a support to some of the humans psicological needs. Humans create archtypes (suchs as gods) because we need to, this is a deep and i think inconscious action.
But there are some specific god like entities with such a prostituted background (i.e. The Christian god, and the corrupted history of a "supossedly spiritual created Church") with a decreasesd amount of followers.
That's the main reason why people don´t believe in god, because the image is so deteriorated, but in the very deep of the conscience, there is always something that needs a God to support and sometimes to forget that unidentifiable emptyness of the human being.

For me, I don't "believe" in any god, but nor do I "disbelieve". I don't have a faith per se because nothing I've been told, or shown of any religion has seemed right. Theres always this big gaping hole in it, which I can never really pin down what is.
I don't have any proof, existence wise, of any deity. so therefore I shall not cast a vote. But to all the the people arguing that a god does not exist, you don't really have any proof of that either. It just depends if you are an innocent until guilty person, or guilty until innocent.

It is not their fault.I have seen many people suffers from agony though they are not bad. They pray God but no help and so they lost faith.Or they cant surrender to god and may be all haoppened. So it depends on the situation and believe of a person.

I have always wondered why people DO believe in god. The bible is a great story, but that is all, just a story.

i don't believe in god and i guess it's b/c as i got older i realized that i didn't believe in things that i couldn't find facts for or at least some type of scientific proof. i went to a catholic school in elementary but apparantly nothing stuck in the religious sense. i was even baptised as a child. i believe that if there is a god out there, that he loves me for me regardless of what i believe.

They are lost and don"t know God. The devil has then blinded and fooled.People have money and worthy pleasures and don"t take the time to relize that there is a God that gave them everything they have. I pray people will wake up. God is real, and he loves everybody.

Because God's people haven't made a very good showing of themselves. Bigotry and bias runs rampid through their ranks. No sane human being wants to be a part of that.
