I have tried the powders you put into their food. She stopped eating her own, but now she eats the other dogs poop. His is the only poop she eats. I have another dog she doesn't like his poop I guess. They are all on the same diet. She is 3 years old, I have had her for about 9 months, she was a kennel dog. I know this is a habbit from her cleaning after her puppies. How do I get her to stop when the food additives don't work? No chemicles please. I mean, she will wait right by his butt and literally catch it coming out. I have taken her to the vets and she has no deficiancies. Please help.

My dog eats poop, too. She prefers cow, horse, and coyote poop, and saves other dogs' poop for rolling in. I try to catch her when she's about to scarf down on some choice morsels and say firmly, NO. GoodGirl, but NO. It's gotten better. So, you might just want to continue catching your pooch in the act, and then take the appropriate discipline. I'm not a huge believer that dogs eat poop because they need something in the poop. Sometimes I think they just do what they do because they want to. Like little kids. Why, for instance, do little kids stick tic-tacs in their ears, peas up their noses, etc? For no reason whatsoever. Sometimes dogs are like that too. Sometimes I'm like that for that matter.

So, try to just watch her, and then when you catch her getting ready to dine, bring the iron fist of dog-owner down on her. She wants you to be happy with her, and if she knows she's not supposed to eat poop, then she's going to try to stop eating poop.

Good luck!

Wow. She waits by his butt and eats. That's serious. My dog would eat his own poop. The vet said it looks disgusting but it won't harm the dog. For some reason I disagree. My only suggestion would be to separate the dogs when they go outside to potty. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. Good luck!

I too have a pit bull that used to like to eat poop. I also started giving him pedigree puppy food and he's doing fine.
