MY 4 month puppy, (been with her since she was 1 month old) has gone into a kennel for 2 months (because we have to travel)... will she still remember me after this time?

She is a lovely, obedient puppy, and follows us everywhere (even to the toilet!)... all her favourite toys are with her also in the kennel, and 95% of the time she's afriad of other dogs/people.

Thanks in advance to all. (-_-)

I agree also with not keeping a doggie in a cage for 2 months.

We however, have found a place where they will take her out at least 3 times a day and she also has time to play with other dogs. She is kept in quite a sizeable room with all her favourite toys, not just locked in a cage!

I feel quite sad if you think kennels are simply just cages.

I don't know what kind of kennel this is, but it's pretty awful for a 4 month old active puppy to have to be cooped up in a kennel for 2 whole months! You should not be concerned about her remembering you. You should be concerned about her well-being. A cage for 2 months is no place for any dog, let alone a puppy. Unfortunately, I feel that you are not doing anything to benefit her socialization. She may come out of it fine in time, but personally, I feel it is quite irresponsible on your part to have acquired a puppy at a time when you will not be around to participate actively in her growth and development. I will even go so far as to say it's selfish. There are times when things happen outside of our control, but in those situations, you should instead have hired a house-sitter or dog sitter to be with your puppy. I feel very sorry for your dog. Sorry, but I cannot give you any solace or comfort in your choices, because I feel they are the wrong ones. A person who truly loves their dog would never subject it to life all alone in a kennel cage for 2 months.

I agree with Alleycat, that is waaaay too long to keep a puppy in a kennel. You should have considered this trip before even getting the puppy.

You could have made arrangemts to have someone keep her in their home instead of in a kennel. This long term stay in a kennel could really damage her emotionally.

She may remember you, but I can guarantee she won't be the same dog you remember. So sad.
