Any creative, candid picture ideas to photograph my daughter would be appreciated. Setting, props, clothes, color schemes?

in the bathroom set it up where the roll of toilet paper is a huge mess and she is sitting in it playing and looks up at you like uh oh

then put her in the kitchen with the cabinet doors open and bowls and sppons and etc all over with fridge door open, a few broken eggs on the floor with some flour and her holding the cup of flour dumping it into a bowl ....making breakfast for mom

Try putting her in a white onesie and get a large white sheet (that you don't mind ruining). Hang the sheet up on the wall so half is hanging and the other half is spread out on the floor. Break out some finger paints and help her get really messy all over her and the sheet. Show her what to do, and take lots of pictures of her "painting". Use colors that blend well so you don't end up with a pukey looking mess though. I'd probably use shades of purple, pink and turquoise or blue for the best effect since you have a girl. Make lots of her handprints and footprints all over too.

rule of thumb when photographing kids: go down to their level. there is nothing worse than a photo looking down on the kid. it takes the kid out of the picture and makes him look distorted....

Make sure that they child is happy and comfortable. if she shows signs or displeasure, put the camera aside, play for a while and then move along. the best pictures of kids are the candid ones, so try to snap her as she plays. Her regular toys will make a good prop, as they are colorful and part of her life. she will also be more comfortable in her own toys and blankets etc.

Dont waste time getting her to look at the camera. let her do her own thing and if she looks at you, snap. i find that they best snaps are those of the child looking curious or ponderous or happy at something. posed pictures of a i year old are hard to make and tend to look a bit forced.

Make sure your lighting is good, use skin based colors (pinks, reds) for her clothing, and avoid cold colors (blue, grey).

so get her happy and busy and snap away!

Let her play with things, things that are new and different to her and that she will be in awe of. I know it's June, but setting up your Christmas tree and decorating it would make GREAT pics. Think about it--lights, ornaments--it'll be so cute! And she was probably young enough at Christmas that she didn't play with much stuff. You don't even have to set up the tree, really, just get lights and ornaments!

I saw some darling pictures of a little girl having a tea party with her stuffed animals. So sweet. I also like ones of babies reading books. Have fun. Here is a great website of the photographer we use.

"candid" means you don't set up a photo shoot, you just snap pictures and hope for the best. Put her in a clean outfit and snap away.

Try the beach. dress her up in a white dress and around sundown have her chase the pelicans, play with sand toys, getting her feet wet, etc. Also go black and white, it would be really adorable =D

You could try putting her in a cute dress and have her smelling flowers or maybe you could try just getting a picture of her sleeping (those are always cute!)
