Hey, SmileyCat here.I Love Birds!! Right now I'm watching out of my office window Doves diligently working on their new nest..flying down to the ground picking up the perfect twig off of the lawn then flying back onto my front yard Sycamore. Cute watching them walk up the branch carrying their twig!

Anybody else have birds nesting and getting ready for spring hatchlings?
What kind of birds? Tell me your story!

SmileyCat : )
P.S. I cheated a little and got a bunch of twigs and reeds from the backyard and scattered them in the front for them.
They smiled and thanked me! hee-hee!

We have an acre with bird houses in the grape arbor, most of the trees and nests everywhere. We feed the birds in the winter and provide a bird bath for them in the spring, summer and fall. We have cardinals, blue jays, sparrows, chickadees, robins, mocking bird, doves, black birds and many types and colors of finches. We had woodpeckers before we cut down a dying tree. We sit out on the patio and watch all the birds take turns in the bird bath and watch them feed in the winter. The feeder and bird bath is just outside the kitchen window so I can watch them while I do the dishes. I think all of our bird houses either have eggs or new hatch-lings at this time. I saw a mom and daddy bird teaching their little one to fly just last week. It is one of our favorite pass times and is very relaxing after a day at work. Oh, by the way, we have a smiley cat named Stella so we have our work cut out for us keeping her out of the trees. A soft reminder with a squirt gun or garden hose seems to do the trick. I find the simple pleasures, that God gave us, are the best of all and it sounds like you are enjoying those pleasures also. Happy bird watching!

We've had doves in the past - right now there are millions of swallows. It is so fun to watch them fly at dusk and catch bugs! Their nests are made of mud and stuck under the eves of the house.
