I got a new Teacup Chihuahua puppy on Tuesday. She is 9 weeks, 1 day old as of today. She weighs 1 pound 13 ounces, and is very playful. I have another dog (male) who is a min pin. Can anyone give me ANY advice about Teacup Chihuahua's and how to get my dogs to get along? Thanks.

Get started with social activities for her as soon as possible. Start gently, taking her to places where there are people, cars, bikes, cats, anything you can think of that she needs to learn not to be scared of. Now is an important time in her development because over the next few weeks she's very open to things and if she is given positive experiences now she will have good associations with those things, and will be ok with them for the rest of her life (unless she gets a negative experience later on). This indiscriminate OK-labelling period doesn't last very long so better get started now.

Play with her lots, make her happy, let her learn new things, look into positive training (like clicker training) to weed out unwanted behaviour before they develop fully. Do NOT punish her, it'll only get her freaked out and won't do any good in the long run for the relationship between you and your dog.

If the dogs seem to be getting along OK, just leave them alone and they'll figure out how their relationship and the 'hierarchy' works, and remember that a bit of fighting can be normal and nothing dangerous, playful fighting can last for a long time and is nothing unusual. Basically, they'll work it out on their own, just make sure there's no serious aggression going on, otherwise you shouldn't have any trouble.

Congratulations :-)

I have a deerhead chihuahua/ miniature dachshaund mix puppy, and I know that she is allergic to tomatoes. She gets a rash on her chin if she gets into any, so that might be a good thing to know when giving your new puppy a treat off of your plate. Your dog might be different , though.

see http://pets.yahoo.com

and also put "puppy training" into your search bar--WOWZERS! you will come up with a ton of great sites of info. I just did that and it was really too much for me to decide what would suit you best. You might wanna do it yourself since you know you best. I liked the one that was a week-by-week guide, sort of as your puppy grows.
That's kind of funny considering the little squirt you got--won't grow too much, huh? Now, can I come over and see the two of them together? They sound so cute. You are going to have such a blast for the next many years with those little darlings.
