What makes you think that there is no God, if you are an atheist?

Because God has done amazing things in my life that could not have happened without Him. Do you realize how perfectly balanced the universe is? If one little thing was different, we wouldn't even exist. Only a loving, gracious, and perfect God could have created this balanced universe we live in. It is because of Jesus Christ that I do not have to fear death, because my time here on earth is short, but my time with my saviour is eternal.

I think there is no god because I don't believe in magic. Until someone can show me actual proof of a god's existence, I will continue to think so. And, no, I don't mean a bunch of words from some book, I mean real proof.

To me believing in a god means that you are not responsible for anything in your life. None of you accomplishments mean anything because you did not do them; it was some magic dude that gave it to you. It means that you are also not responsible for the bad things in your life because some magic dude is going to forgive you and everything is somehow better. What a cop-out.

To me, belief in a god means that you are either not intelligent enough or not secure enough with yourself to accept the fact that you are here for the sole purpose of just being here. Just because... that's it. Your parents made a baby, just like all good little monkeys do. There is no divine plan. Your road is a wide open path, and it is up to you, and you alone, to decide what to do with it. What you make of that path is all on you, bad or good.

With all the major and minor religions out there, who is right? Who is wrong? This is a great question. What makes you so sure YOUR god or religion is the right one? What if you're wrong and you end up in some eternal fireball in an office waiting room with nothing but outdated magazines and Musak playing nothing but Styx and Billy Ray Cyrus? Egad!

What if you're wrong and you just die, and that’s it. You're dead. No afterlife. Man, you got screwed huh? The only way you can live forever is in the lives you touch and the memories you leave with other people. So you'd better make it a good one.

Keep on believing, little sheep. You can continue to feel safe with your sheppard watching over you. Which reminds me, did you know that you can't leave sheep out in the rain because they will look up to see it and drown themselves rather than turn away? It's funny the way things pop into mind sometimes.

I will leave it at that. This question is likely 4 pages long as it is such a touchy subject for some people who cannot handle someone saying What if and Why not? I doubt this answer will be read entirely. I'm sure it will be panned over for the short answers like "Duh" or "Cause I have Faith" or even better, "You're a (insert derogatory comment here)".

Oh, I don't believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy either. But you have to watch out for that Ether Bunny, he's a tricky one.

If you are confident enough to face your problems all by yourself, then you wont any God. If you are the type looking for help and miracles all the time, then You Must have a God. Its not a question of whether you have a God for you or not. More crimes against humanity are committed in the name of God. God is a Metaphor for your aspirations and expectations. Its a glimmer of hope, when all else fails. Its a way of making you not to lose heart. Because, for most of the humanity, if hope is lost, everything is lost. Only a few can keep the hope from being extinguished and they are atheists. Whether there is God or not, "Love thy neighbor" -- ofcourse not "Thy neighhor's wife"

The fact that there is enough stars in the galaxy for each person on Earth to personally own 3 million stars is proof that my God is real.

The fact that the concept of gravity, especially in relation to the other planets, is precise, that if the rotation of any of the other planets, should so much alter 1 mile or so, would completely throw the galaxy into chaos.

The fact that people have a concept of right and wrong and are capaable of making moral and ethical decisions.

What other proof would like for my God being real?

GOD is real and my "proof" is faith. I have been through more struggles than most and survived even when Dr's said I should have died. The only thing they told my husband to do when I got cancer the 3rd time, was to pray for a miracle. I'm guessing it worked since, 4 years later I'm sitting here answering your question.
Isn't it better to believe in GOD than Not believe in Him & be wrong?

Honestly I know that there is a God, because I believe in him. God is a being that someone believes in, therefore because I believe in God, he exists and is real to me. I don't give a crap if other people believe in God or not, it is their own personal decision to make. Thats why I find it hard to understand situations where people are persecuted because of their religion, can't we all just mind our own business?

Scientific fact prove that God does not exist and the Bible is false in many places. The Bible is just a glorified History Book, with half the facts wrong. But it does make for a good story.

I just know God is real. I do not need a bible or a bible thumping preacher to convince me. I breathe, and see the universe around me and that is proof enough.

PS. I knew in my heart that God/Jesus is my saviour before I ever opened a bible. That my friend is the power of God.
