Which is the software that can record sound from the computer...( from videos etc.) , preferrably free.

You have to make recording setting correct. it's free and good software for recording. Mostly i use it to record only playable songs from internet.

go for sound decoder. with its help u can get video file into a wav file and if u want an mp3 one then use audio converter to get it into mp3 format.

Sound Forge..but it's difficult to come in free.
