My friend stole money from her place of work. The detectives are saying that the owner just wants his money back, and will not take her to court. There will be no charge against her on her record. Does she have anything to worry about?

She still committed Embezzlement and until the statute of limitations runs out the State can still charge her!! This has nothing to do with the employer...

Get it in writing from her boss that if she has knowledge of the crime and sees that the money is returned, charges will not be preffered.

Police are well within their rights to trick a person into hanging themselves through their own words or actions. Don't trust the detectives! Get a lwayer before admitting anything.

Time will tell, if the state and the victim are not pursuing charges then she will have nothing to worry about, there is a statue of limitations and when that is past then sh is safe form the law. Now she only has Judgment Day to worry about

Normally the police will not file charges if the owner of the company asks them not to ( but they can, since they know a crime did happen, they can still take it to the DA)

But normally if they say this, that is what would happen, I would have an attorney get it in writing, since police are allowed to lie to you about evidence and the such to get a confession.

too late. if theres detectives involved the state has already picked up the charges & will procecute. it would cost the boss more to take her to court than he lost by her theft. if they havent arrested her yet then they have no proof. sounds like a crappy job anyway if shes paid so little she has to steal. quit & get a better job.

Now the boss has her, he could mistreat her, and what could she do. She is lucky that no charges were filed, but she won't be able to list that job for a reference later, and if they ask her why. I hope she has learned her lesson, she'll never be bondable again.

A thief cannot be trusted and though her boss isn't taking her to court he should fire her. Think about it, would you want to have someone work for you that steals?

IF THE OWNER IS NOT GOING TO PRESS CHARGES THEN THE ONLY THING SHE HAS TO WORRY ABOUT IS FINDING ANOTHRE JOB
