Not after insurance pays their part..just in general out the door self pay costs. No surgery was performed, however there was an urgent care visit and an emergency room visit. I have gotten some of the bills so far, but I know there are a few more to come. I am curious because a third party will be paying and I want to be sure we aren't shorted when they offer a settlement. I know this is only opinions..just curious if anyone else has dealt with this before.

Don't settle until you get all of the bills! The other insurance company will try their best to get you to settle quickly but hold off to make sure you get everything you should get.

In order to arrive at a satisfactory comparison, I would conduct a survey to determine the differences within the same region.

Contact the Billing Department (after speaking with the hospital administrator for permission to ask questions of someone knowledgable about pricing and costs associated with the procedure).

Contact another hospital in the same region and follow the same procedure...then compare the various points ... such as

Cost for Emergency Room Care: $
Cost for Physician's Fee: $
Cost for Materials used in 'cast' procedure: $
Cost for addendum 'related' costs: $
Cost for any anesthetics or medications given
before, during or 'to take home with you': $

The hospital will usually provide by request an itemized list by which you may make inquiries of other facilities (hospitals).
Remember that there will be another visit to have the 'cast' removed. Sometimes there is a fee for that, also.

Get well, soon..

Another thing to consider....I broke my wrist and it didn't heal properly so I had surgery. Doctor took bone out of my hip to put in my wrist, 2 weeks later I was limping and fell and broke my leg. So don't settle so fast, wait a while.
