I often do a lot of research before answering. Even write my own analysis. often long. Really i have improved my knowledge about my own culture by answering them. Some questions are really thought provoking and make you think , if you care .
Even my cut n paste job have my personal input along with it.
The fact is that my back ground is science still I lurk in this section most. I learnt many new things. I did not know that people still challang evolutuion theory in US for one. I had no idea that wicca is an actual religion. And so on.

Asking a question is the first step to becoming wiser. Answering a question is previously held wisdom.

I think we become wiser by reading some of the responses on here. It helps you to see what kind of person people really are.

We become wiser when we read correct answers, especially ones that are put in the correct category.

Asking, without a doubt. Asking is how most, if not all, scientific discoveries are made. "Is the earth round or flat? I dunno, let's find out..." "Why does that apple fall to the ground when it leaves that tree? Why doesn't it go up? Hey, let's find out." Anyone can answer a question and give a BS response. Hey, it happens here all day long! Wisdom doesn't come from talking, it comes from listening.

Both. The more questions you answer, the more you have to expand your mind to think of things in order to make coherent answers. But then when you ask questions, you are learning things by gaining direct knowledge from others.

It's not that one becomes wiser asking questions or answering them, but ones wisdom is shown through his questions and answers.

Both...but listen to your intuition before choosing which question to answer. Allow yourself to hear the still small voice, as it leads you to the questions it needs for you to answer. Take a small pause, and listen.
In asking, we learn how to receive answers; in answering, we learn how to ask questions.

Participating on Yahoo!Answers will lead to a sharp reduction in knowledge and wisdom regardless which you do.

Asking questions brings answers, but wisdom is not in knowing, but in doing right with what you know.
