First off how can you say that Christians don't respect their own religion? That would be like me saying that all black people are on welfare. How can you stereo type the largest group of people on the earth because you know of a few cases. I'm a Christain and I live for my religion and have based my whole life on my beliefs, to me that is the ultimate respect. How can you say that we ALL ignore the first commandment. I guess my point is that our jobs as Christians are to live our lives as much like Jesus as possible and to go out and share the word with people who haven't found salvation. WE ARE ALL SINNERS. Even the most holy person on this earth sins. There is no perfect Christian. We do the best we can so if you see a Christian doing something that might not be the right thing, don't assume that the WHOLE RELIGION DOESNT FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD. That would be like me saying that all Muslums are terrorists. How stupid is that?

A true christian will do everything they can to obey Gods laws and standards. This world is hard on everyone, look at this scripture at 2 Tim.3: 1-7- But know this that in the last days critical times hard to be with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of Godly devotion and proving false to its power, and from these turn away. For from these arise those men who slyly work their way into households and lead as their captives weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires. always learning but never able to come to an accurate knowledge of the truth. This scripture describes the way the world is today doesn,t it? The bible foretold people would be like this in the last days. Thankyou for the thought provoking Question.

Your question is rather critical of an entire religion on perhaps maybe 50-100 people you have encountered. To generalize ALL christians like you have is not right. And it is not about respecting their own religion, people are human, they will make errors, sin, lie, cheat, etc. It is what is in ones heart that matters and unless you are God, you cannot see inside any one's heart. Yes, we are to obey the commandments and love our neighbors, but because not one person could be perfect, that is why Jesus was born to die. He took our sin on the cross. We could never do it on our own. That is why we have a saviour.

Christianity is not a religion, it is a belief system. Religion is the ritual that is practiced as a result of the human interpretation of that belief. Christianity is the act of following what Jesus taught, as put forward in the Bible. Litueral translation of Christian is "little Christ" or "Christ like". So the look to the actions of the person not just the words coming out of thier mouth.

While the Christians I know that have strong prayer lives try very hard to live good lives and obey God, we are all only human and fallable. I will admit that there is hipocrisy among many Christians, but it is unfair to make generalizations like that.
Additionally, most Christians are not trying to "recruit." They are trying to share what they have found. We have been commissioned by God to go out and make believers of all people. First, we are trying to obey God. Second, we are trying to help others find salvation. If you knew that something bad was going to happen to someone in the future and you could save them, wouldn't you try to?

You're right. Most Christians don't respect their own religion. I guess they try to recruit others so they aren't the only one's looking that foolish.
Disclaimer: Not all Christians act this way. Just the ones who do, are usually the loudest of the group. Note the Christian "Right".

Those sort of people are in all religions and with so many Christians around the world there are bound to be quite a few bad Christians. However, be careful, are you really in a position to throw stones?

The teaching is there, but sometime people wish not to follow, but in the same time, that may not be a good ideal to sank one ship because there is one bad man inside, because it is not all Christian is like that.
IF that so called Christian is really that bad by not respect his own religion? i think he will be more lazy to recruit people...so are you sure your question are correct?

Those are the ten commandment:
1)"I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery..."
This commandment is to believe in the existence of God and His influence on events in the world, and that the goal of the redemption from Egypt was to become His servants (Rashi).
2)"Thou shall have no other gods besides Me... Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."
This prohibits belief in or worship of any additional deities or fashioning them.
3)"Thou shall not swear falsely by the name of the LORD..."
This commandment is to never take the name of God in a vain, pointless or insincere oath (Rashi). This includes four types of prohibited oaths: an oath affirming as true a matter one knows to be false, an oath that affirms the patently obvious, an oath denying the truth of a matter one knows to be true, and an oath to perform an act that is beyond one's capabilities[citation needed].
4)"Remember [zachor] the Sabbath day and keep it holy" (the version in Deuteronomy reads shamor, "observe")
The seventh day of the week is termed Shabbat and is holy, just as God ceased creative activity during Creation. The aspect of zachor (remember) is performed by declaring the greatness of the day (kiddush), by having three festive meals and by engaging in Torah study and pleasurable activities. The aspect of shamor is performed by abstaining from the 39 melachot (forbidden categories of activity) on the Shabbat.
5)"Thou shall honour your father and your mother..."
The obligation to honor one's parents is an obligation that one owes to God and fulfills this obligation through one's actions towards one's parents.
6)"Thou shall not murder"
Killing an innocent human being is a capital sin.
7)"Thou shall not commit adultery."
Adultery is defined as cohabitation with a married woman (Rashi).
8)"Thou shall not steal."
This is not understood as stealing in the conventional sense, since theft of property is forbidden elsewhere and is not a capital offense. In this context it is to be taken as "do not kidnap" (Rashi).
9)"Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor"
One must not bear false witness in a court of law or other proceeding.
10)"Thou shall not covet your neighbor's house..."
One is forbidden to desire and plan how one may obtain that which God has given to another. Maimonides makes a distinction in codifying the laws between the instruction given here in Exodus (You shall not covet) and that given in Deuteronomy (You shall not desire), according to which one does not violate the Exodus commandment unless there is a physical action associated with the desire, even if this is legally purchasing an envied object.
The first four are about our relationship with God, and the remaining about how we should treat one another.
that was not the first commandment. Turning the cheek, loving other etc, was the teaching of Jesus Christ. What you refer to is recruiting, others refer to it as teaching. The Christians are not the only one who does it, check what the Muslim do to 'recruit' as you have noted!! You will find that these days the Muslims are the one who is using force and other ways as preventing other from converting in their country when at the sametime demand the right to convert everywhere! and everyone.
Do they ignore their religion! how about those Muslims who cut off innocent people's head, INNOCENT, are they doing what their religion want them to do? Have you seen how they killed Nick Berg! they use a small knif to prolong his pain! probably you didn't know that, but when they kill the animals they eat, it must be done in the Halal way, which means one cut so the animal wouldn't suffer! Hyporcits and cruel.
Heads up. many Muslims are victim of their own people, and many Muslims are speaking out agianst how other people being treated by the so called good Muslims. GOD Bless all the Peace keeper and makers.

It's a tenent of the faith, and I honestly believe that they mean well. They think they're doing what they're supposed to do.
It also seems that they pick and choose which parts of the bible they wish to follow based on how well it meshes with their own beliefs or what their goals are. This is the part I find most nauseating.
