You need to get your bird to the vet ASAP. A bird has very little blood in his body and can actually bleed to death from something as simple as a broken blood feather or a quicked toe nail. If you can't get him to the vet...go to your local pet store and get some Quik-Stop. The people there should know how to stop the bleeding. He may have chewed his toe off because the nail was growing wrong and really bothering him. I had a ring-neck that did the same thing one time. BTW...I'm raising a baby quaker that I found. He's about 8 weeks old and was about 3 weeks when I found him. He fell out of his nest in a parking lot power tower....I'm in Florida and they live wild here. He's turning out to be a little fireball....I love him to death! Best of luck with your little companion. I hope all goes well.

use flour to stop the bleeding and apply a little pressure till it is starting to scab. then cover it with gauze even though the bird will try to eat it. I am more concerned as to why she would bite her own foot. Usually birds attack other birds feet. Quakers are great birds I have five of them.

I agree. Get to the vet asap. I am sorry to hear about his foot. Sounds like he is bored or there is something medical going on. Proper diet is crucial.
I had a quaker for years and he was something. I still miss him
Good Luck, and please keep us up to date.

Stop bleeding with flour,it works for most animals and birds.I would take it too a vet.Give the bird fruit or something to distract from the foot so she leaves it alone.

Yep, what angels said. While at the vet ask about training and activities the bird will benefit from.

Yes...VET! Why bother to ask people online? If it was your own foot that needed medical attention, would you ask here? C'mon people...be responsible for the health and safety of your pets! These are LIVING CREATURES! They feel pain, fear, stress...everything YOU feel. If you don't want to take care of them properly, then DON"T BUY THEM. They are not toys...
