If you are working as an independent consultant, or as your own business then yes.

If you are working for the company and just live a significant distance away. Then no.

However if you must move to get closer to our company, (I believe if you have to move more than 50 miles, however check IRS regulations) you can deduct moving expenses to get a home closer to your job.

yes, but as always, save all your receipts. If you take your car or if you use public transport. You can always call H&R Block and ask to be sure. Your deductions may be limited to business use or travel only. The allowances are sometimes built in to your deductions from the State or federal Government and are pro-rated unless you can prove that you spend more than the allowed dollar amount given.

Best to consult a good CPA, they know all the latest allowances, which can change from year to year.
