I have never heard a dog cough, I am worried she may have some form of kennel cough, We thought it maybe allergies and she just has a congested nose. She started making these noises after being spayed.

Sometimes a dog will "backsneeze" which usually means they have something caught or retained in the nasal passages or throat. If she was recently spayed good clinics intubate pets to put them under anesthesia and O2 when in for surgery, so it may be an irritation from the breathing tube. It could be kennel cough, has she been vaccinated? If she was just in for spaying she may have also come into contact with a pet who has bordetella and may be showing signs now.

You didn't mention what kind of dog you have. Alot of times small breeds will develope a swollen trachea condition. It's really common in small breeds and, although it doesn't harm the dog at all....it does sound scary. On the other hand....it could be kennel cough. It's very common for a dog to get it when they spend time around other dogs that have it. Even if your dog has been vaccinated against it....he's not guaranteed against it . It's a very contagious airborn virus.

Is the dog on heart-worm medicine . To be given once a month. Dogs will cough a lot if they have heart worms and it IS a very serious thing. Have a vet check. Caused by mosquitoes.Could also be trying to cough up hair balls. You can get hairball remedy almost anywhere that has a pet dept.

Since I don't know what it actually sounds like, I'm going to make an assumption. Alot of dogs have this thing called a "reverse sneeze". My dog gets it every once in a while. It sounds like hes trying to clear his thought/ try to through up. The vet said what to do is cover the nostrils with your fingers, so he is forced to breathe through his mouth. Which in turn causes the "reverse sneeze" to go away. Hope this helped. And I hope the pup gets better!

Sometimes it could be caused by allergies. Have you started using a new cleaning product or scented candle or anything?
It could be kennel cough, or if she does it while lying down she might be choking on her long tongue! My dog had this problem, after taking her to the vet he gave her cough suppressants. After they were finished she started again, but it went away by itself.

more than likely she has some irratiation to having the tube inserted in her throat for the surgery. not uncommon to have some irratation from that. call your vet back and let him know about it. she may have also contacted a minor upper respitory. just let them know.

shes probably just fine, she might be having a reverse sneeze, sounds like they are about ready to trow up, but nothing happens. its because mucus get caught in the wrong place, and they are just trying to fix it.

sounds like reverse sneezing, my dogs do it too. I rub their neck in a downward motion to help soothe.
