My finace' is in Iraq and when he comes home we are getting married but here is my question... Can he add my 18 month old daughter on to his Tri-Care even if she is not his child? He plans on adopting her but we have to be together for him to do that.

he will be able to add her as a dependant in DEERS once you are married if you have full custody of her and she lives with you at least 75% of the time. she does not need to be adopted to be added to DEERS and enrolled into TRICARE, but you do have to be married.

Once you are married he can add your child to his insurance. She is then considered a dependent of him. I went through the same thing with my son when my husband was deployed. If you call your local FAC they can help you with the paperwork. Just remember with Tricare to always call in before you go to the hospital or clinic. Otherwise they can refuse to pay.

First you gotta get married, then he has to make your daughter one of his dependants and have it listed on DEERS. Neither you nor daughter has any status until you're married
