Salted popcorn is o.k., but would be 10 times better with a little melted butter. Sweet popcorn is just plain horrible.

Cinemas here do have hot melted butter available but very few people ask for it. I think that this is mainly because people don't know that the option is there.

A useful piece of information when buying cinema popcorn is...
salted popcorn is "popped" freshly on site, where as sweet popcorn is usually already prepared, delivered to the cinema in bags and then just warmed up. So if you want fresher popcorn opt for salted.

Ahh, but toffee popcorn is damn good!

We're not really a popcorn nation, to be honest. You get it at cinemas and that's it really. I actually prefer salted popcorn to buttered anyway, and my Mum has always only salted her popcorn and she's from New York.

Like lots of other things, it's a matter of what you get used to and what you like. My British husband prefers sweet popcorn, and I prefer salty... but without butter.

Believe it or not, the Brits have better overall health than those who live in the USA. maybe this is why they don't put butter on their popcorn, they don't want to be obese as such many Americans are.

***Their customs are different from ours. They hate iced tea. They drink their beer at room temp. And they boil almost everything.***
Lots of other differences too.
like not putting bacon and eggs blueberry muffins and pancakes and syrup on the same plate......drinking coke 30cl at a time rather than 30 fluid ounces and not thinking that quantity is the most important thing about a meal>
