nope it doesn't

Yes it certainly does.

I'm a hypnotherapist and have worked as one for a couple of years now. (Those who compare this to stage hypnosis could do with educating btw)

It can help with the psychological aspects of eating habit patterns and behaviours, like binge eating, overindulgence and general motivation, but also can speed up metabolism through the power of suggestion alone. I don;t expect people on yahoo answers to believe this as most people reading this will not have the knowledge of Hypnotherapy and what it can acheive.

Weight management makes up 40% or my business, and have had some astounding results. One client this week has got rid of 9lbs in 4 weeks alone, after only 2 sessions, and has now has his third and final sesson and has never been happier.

The key here is not suggestablility but a desire to change. It is not me that makes this happen but the client's own inner resources and willingness to think differently. Hypnosis is NOT mind control as is often portrayed in the media, but a perfectly normal human state.

Anyone who has ever daydreamed has been in a trance. If you drift off into your own thoughts when driving or watching television then you have experienced hypnosis. You remain fully awake, aware and in control at all time, you are just very relaxed.

In answer to your question, yes it does work, and it works very well.

If you decide to go for hypnotherapy, if you can, go on personal recomendation if possible and also make sure you know that the therapist is registered and accreditted by a national professional body.

Good luck

Yes, hypnosis can be very effective in helping people both lose and manage their weight.

Working with a hypnotherapist can help you address the most important factors for permanent weight loss: healthy eating, motivation to exercise, portion control, and identifying and removing triggers that may cause "emotional eating."

I found a great story from ABC titled "More Dieters Turning to Hypnosis." The link to this article is provided below:

Hypnosis only works on some people and to different degrees depending on how week minded (sugestable) someone is. If they can make you think that you are a dog, they can make you think that you should only eat the amount a cat eats.

Let's try it. From now on you will eat less and be thin. If not see site below and take the time to learn how to eat right once in your life so you can be slim and healthy. There are different things like bodyfat, water retention and something else that below site helps you lose.

It certainly makes your wallet or purse lighter. Seriously, not everyone is suspceptible to hypnotic suggestion. These stage hypnotists look impressive but their subjects are acting out what's expected of them - they're conforming sociallly in a false "community".
If you're motivated enough then there's a chance that an aversion type treatment might help. Alternately, another type of higher qualified hypnotist might use hypnotism to uncover the cause for overeating and then work on that.
There are success cases in all areas and it's best if you ask your GP if it might benefit you and to even recommend an hypnotist. On this score, don't take any scepticism on his/her part as being the be all and end all of it. Alternative therapy (and there really isn't a conventional one for being overweight) is still frowned on by some doctors. Use your judgement based on a couple of opinions and then choose a good therapist specialising in weight loss. Check with the body governing therapeutic hypnotists who should provide you with a list near you.

Yes, it helps with motivation. Go to www.easywillpower.com My friend and I tried it after The St. Pete Times had an article saying this program worked and it helped me.

Exercise every day, even if it's just a walk. Go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Eat fish, eggs, chicken, occasional lean beef or pork, low fat cottage cheese. Stay away from regular cheese, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, beans (except green beans). No fruit and no fruit juice (it's sugar water, my dr says). Cut down on carrots and tomatoes (included ketchup). Use mustard instead of mayonnaise in recipes. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables. Salads only have one tablespoon of dressing for the whole salad. No ice cream, or other desserts. 8 glasses of water a day. No caffeine
