Most fruits are ok for birds provided you take off the skin. The skin of an apple e.g is indigestible and if it gets caught in the bird's throat he has quite a job trying to get it back up.

However, there are quite a few vegetables which birds cannot digest. Cabbage is very hard for them to digest. Never give them potatoes and avocado pear is poisonous to them.

yes it is true in the most part the fruit flesh is usually digested it is the seed inside that is not, its the trees way of insuring survival the fruit is great for the bird the bird eats it flys away and drops the seed in its droppings somewhere else to grow into another tree

it's very true, some don't have a strong digestive and immune system. (Ex. Parakeets can't eat certain vegetables or fruits)

i think so....

I've heard that if a bird eats instant mash powder then it cant digest it and the bird will explode!!

Never tried, but an urban myth thats done the rounds

I don't think they can absorb vitamin C. Either that, o r they don't have much need for it.

But saying that my Pekin Robins have loved the apple, mango and grapes I've been feeding them for the past 10 years.
